In Japan, mountain stream fishing is prohibited during the winter season, and anglers are forbidden to fish, whether or not they release the fish, depending on the species. Stream fish such as landlocked salmon and char spawn in the fall and grow through the spring, so fishing is banned to protect resources.
However, this does not mean that fishing is absolutely prohibited during the winter ! There are fishing areas where rainbow trout are released and can be enjoyed even during the winter season.
The Kanna River in Gunma Prefecture is such a winter managed fishing area, where “Hakosuchi” can be caught. "Hakoschi” is a rainbow trout for recreational fishing, developed at the Fisheries Experiment Station in Gunma Prefecture.
It is a crossbreed of a strong pulling steelhead rainbow trout and a beautiful-looking Hakoshima rainbow trout, which is easy to keep.
Combining a strong pull with a beautiful appearance, the Hakoschi has speed, power, and stamina, allowing anglers to experience fishing beyond their expectations.
Now, which Rod will you take to go fishing her?
