We are closed on Monday 15th July Marine Day due to deliveries and suppliers being unavailable. We will resume shipping and responding to inquiries on Tuesday.

The third Monday in July is Marine Day or 海の日 (Umi no Hi). It is a public holiday in Japan dedicated to showing appreciation and giving thanks to the ocean and its blessings.

Marine Day is celebrated with various water-related events and activities. Here’s how Japanese people typically celebrate this holiday:

Beach Visits: Many families take advantage of the summer weather to visit beaches. Popular activities include swimming, snorkeling, surfing, diving and FISHING. Unfortunately, however, most parts of Japan are forecasted to have rainy or cloudy conditions this year.

Aquarium Events: National aquariums often host special events related to water and marine life, providing educational and entertaining programs for visitors.

Japan is a country surrounded by the sea, and people are aware of the fear of the sea, such as tsunamis, and also have a strong interest in marine environmental conservation. When people go fishing, they do not leave their trash on the beach, and they take it home. This is common fisherman's etiquette in Japan. "Leaving there cleaner than when you arrived." Most Japanese are taught this phrase in elementary school.

Does your country have a Marine Day or a holiday to appreciate the beautiful nature of the sea? Our inquiry chat is not limited to topics related to orders or products. Please feel free to tell us about your country.
