The Legendary Balsa-Era Crankbait, Reborn
The Crankie Darter made its debut in 1988 as Tiemco's first original lure. It was developed as a crankbait designed to flash off the bottom and trigger bites. In recent years local anglers on the Boso Peninsula discovered how well it works from the surface down through the middle layers, and since then it has produced results nationwide.
The basic retrieve is slow and steady. The brilliantly flashing aluminium lip, combined with the body shape, creates a high-pitched, seductive shad-like action that fires up a bass's instincts — in ultra-clear water and in stained systems like Lake Kasumigaura alike.
The 90 and the 100 share the same body and differ only in the lip. The 90 mixes roll and wobble for the surface and just below it; the 100 dives harder with a stronger wobble for just-subsurface to mid range. Both reach roughly 3m, so choose by action and diving angle rather than depth.
