Defying the expectations of its effortless handling born from incredible lightness, this powerful blank reveals its true strength as it bends, easily subduing target fish. It excels at driving small diving pencils to deceive fish feeding on small bait. Its greatest feature is a technical tip that allows anglers to comfortably operate standard-sized diving pencils all the way to their feet. Full of power and springback throughout the blank, this is a technical long-cast model that enables anyone to achieve maximum distance. "Supervised by Ryota Segawa"
*The image is a representative image of the series.
Development initially began with an MH-class seabass rod in mind. During testing, heavy use of big baits and large minnows led us to pass the lightweight, medium-class role to another model, allowing the Staccato 86 to evolve into a stronger rod specialized for large lures and trophy fish. Featuring the Japanese Lates (Akame) logo, its "MH" rating represents power relative to targeting Akame rather than standard seabass. For seabass fishing, it excels in small to medium rivers or big minnow and big bait patterns like the gizzard shad run. Equipped with the Straw Setting featured across the Staccato series, this rod allows anglers to fully experience the performance of the Staccato blank.
Torquey blanks built to withstand even giant fish.
This rod excels in power fights around bridge piers and structures in areas with drastic tide fluctuations. When dealing with seabass around 5kg, it handles them effortlessly with power to spare. During field testing, staff member Kawamura landed numerous giant fishâhighlighted by a 126cm Japanese Lates (Akame) estimated at over 30kgâand noted feeling zero anxiety during fights. Recommended lines range from PE 1.5 to 3 (Kawamura primarily uses PE 2) with leaders from 30 to 80lb, main lure weights around 30 to 70g. The rear grip length is designed specifically for wading; short enough to avoid getting in the way, yet long enough to firmly leverage the rod during hard fights, reducing physical and mental stress for anglers standing by the water day and night.
Renewed in 2025 with an updated guide setting and refined design.
Retaining the original blank while equipped with the latest Straw Setting, this brushed-up model will be released in May 2025. Updated guide specifications: TOP(#1): T-KGST7-2.2, #2â4: T-LDBSG6, #5â12: T-KWSG6, #13: T-KWSG7, #14: T-LCSG10, #15: T-RVSG16H
