Flectrick 80XH - Taking Big Bait Cranking to a New Stage
To crank 4oz-class baits like the Crash 9 on the vast waters of Lake Biwa, we set the rod length to 8 feet. This length allows you to cast 4oz big baits long distances and keep retrieving them at high speeds. It also accommodates the kneeling technique, leveraging the rod's length to maximize the lure's diving depth. The balanced design masterfully combines long-casting performance with exceptional maneuverability.
The Advantages of a Glass Composite Blank
This model features a composite blank with a 7:3 ratio of glass material. The key benefits of glass are its low deflection/repulsion force, which provides superior ability to deflect off structures and prevents the lure from digging too deeply into weed beds. This makes cranking much easier. Furthermore, it creates a subtle "give" or slack in the lure's action, allowing you to trigger bites from fish that would otherwise ignore a stiffer carbon rod.
The Reason for the Straight Guide Setting
After extensive testing, we opted for a straight guide setting. This configuration pairs perfectly with the glass composite blank, with a strong focus on generating line slack when the lure makes contact with structures or weeds. Creating line slack is crucial in cranking—where bumping into objects is common—because it effectively erases the angler's presence at the exact moment a fish is about to bite.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Thanks to the supple blanks that represent the "flex" in Flectrick, a single rod can handle cranking big baits ranging from 2oz to 4oz classes. Additionally, the grip length is set to 37 cm to facilitate the "trick" aspect—making it easy to perform technical maneuvers such as "catching, loosening, and snapping off" the weeds.
