The big-fish size. 5.8 inch - the flagship of the Huddle Gill family.
The 5.8 inch is the largest Huddle Gill, and the size Imakatsu shot the official catch photography with. Everything that makes the series work - the resized huddle tail, the deep ribs, the pleasant retrieve resistance - is scaled up here into a genuinely large flat-bodied swimbait.
The voluminous, symmetrical thin oval body accepts a nail sinker anywhere, and at this size the water volume the tail moves is on another level. The balance between the huddle tail and the body gives a heavy, readable swimming feel on the retrieve, and a wide dying spiral glide on the fall that a smaller bait simply cannot produce.
Fish it as a near-weightless nail rig when you want the slowest possible fall, or on a free rig with a sliding sinker to reach depth and keep the glide alive. Because the profile is large and flat, it pushes water hard on a straight retrieve and calls fish from a distance.
It looks like a worm, but the design philosophy is the same as the Javallon - a pure swimbait. The ribs are cut deep enough to keep carrying air bubbles underwater, and the wall thickness is held at the limit so that even at 5.8 inch the bait folds inside a bass mouth and the hook gets through.
