Huddle tail x flat body - the compact 3.9 inch of the Huddle Gill family.
The Huddle Gill is a flat-bodied swimbait built around a huddle tail resized for the optimum balance of action and retrieve feel. Deep ribs give a pleasant, readable resistance through the rod. The 3.9 inch is the most compact size in the family and the easiest one to keep in the water all day.
The body is a voluminous, symmetrical thin oval, so a nail sinker can be inserted almost anywhere you like. The balance between the huddle tail and the body produces an exquisite swimming feel on the retrieve and a dying spiral glide on the fall.
Where the 3.9 inch shines is the near-weightless nail rig and the free rig with a sliding sinker. The deep-ribbed, voluminous body appeals strongly just by swimming, and the glide fall that follows imitates a dying, easy-to-eat flat baitfish.
It looks like a worm at first glance, but the design philosophy is exactly the same as the Javallon - a pure swimbait. Fish-attracting power, castability with no weight, swimming power and water-gripping performance have all been sharpened into a gill-shaped flat bait. The rib depth is set so the bait keeps carrying air bubbles underwater, while the wall thickness is taken to the limit so it folds easily inside a bass mouth for a clean hook-up.
It is also an outstanding chatterbait trailer. Pro angler Masahiko Kawano took big fish on a Mogura Moss Chatter Monster + Huddle Gill 3.9 inch combination at the 2023 JB Ikuno Ginzanko opener and won by an overwhelming weight margin.
