This SB (Swim Bait/Big Bait) rod is designed to maximize the practical performance of big baits and swim baits in today’s increasingly tough fields, specifically supporting the 4oz class of these lures. It is an item that allows you to complete the big bait game by placing heavy lures under overhanging cover with low-trajectory sidehand casts, achieving soft water entries, and then manipulating the lure through rod work or reeling to trigger bites. By applying a "he-shaped taper" (stepped taper) to a stiff XH-power tip, it becomes easy to accurately place heavy lures along banks, shallow cover, or under overhangs; furthermore, the tip "bows" slightly during thumbing just before water entry to realize a soft landing sound. The true essence of this taper is seen in its ability to delicately and accurately manipulate lures via twitching, reeling jerks, or shaking retrieves, producing seductive actions during high-speed "stop-and-go" retrieves without over-pulling the lure and making it easier to create line slack upon pausing.
Additionally, the tip gives way instantly during sudden strikes to provide the fish room to turn, ensuring the hook is firmly taken without deflection while the powerful butt section drives heavy-gauge hooks home. By retaining an appropriate amount of suppleness within its strength, the rod allows you to fight fish with absolute confidence.
